Leave the following information with the answering service:

  • your name
  • address
  • phone number
  • pick-up time
  • appointment time
  • destination
  • time of return
  • possible delay Are you having a procedure that might result in a delay, such as cataract surgery?
  • any special conditions. For example, do you use a wheelchair or have other ambulatory concerns? Will you be bringing a companion?

A FISH driver will call you to confirm the arrangements, or a FISH phoner will call you to let you know that no FISH driver is available to drive you to this appointment.

If you are unable to secure a ride from FISH, you can call transportation services at the Lexington community center, 781–861–1210, to hear about alternatives.

Rides are free. Clients are responsible for any parking fees or tolls. We are always grateful for donations.

Clients must be able to get in and out of a vehicle without the driver's assistance.

For a ride, call two FISH operating days before your medical appointment. When FISH is closed, no rides are available. FISH is closed on Saturdays and Sundays; Fridays in June, July, and August; and weekday holidays. Skip the days FISH is closed, which are shaded on the calendar, when counting back two FISH operating days.

For example: If you need a ride on a Wednesday, call FISH by 1:00pm on Monday.

If you need a ride on Monday in June, July or August, call FISH by 1:00pm the previous Wednesday.
